Fly Fishing from a Kayak – Easier Casting and Comfort using this Fly Fishing Tip!

there’s two problems fly fishing from a kayak Oh there’s two problems fly fishing from a kayak the first is it’s almost impossible to get a decent cast when you’re sitting down this captain seat in my native helps a little bit as he gets me up a little bit higher but it’s still awkward my knees are in the way so here’s the solution get yourself a pair of knee pads and now you can kneel comfortably in your kayak and fish your knees won’t get sore and you can go all day the other problem is there’s all sorts of stuff in the front of your kayak that your line is going to catch on so what I did is I created a stripping basket out of a tarp so I basically just tuck into my life vest you don’t really want to clip it because if you fall off you want this to come out and now when I fish all my line collects in this tarp and doesn’t wrap around all the gear I’ve got in my kayak now I can fish comfortably and not worry about hang-ups in addition from this position I can use my paddle to move slowly up on the fish on target now the same trick will work if you stand up but given the reduction in stability I prefer to kneel just to show you that it’s possible to stand and we send my native kayak I can I can stand up in my stripping basket still falls down here in front of me if I were going to do this regularly I would make this tarp a little bit bigger to create more of a pocket let’s assign five fish kneeling this is the perfect size for me hope you liked this tip take care
